To advance humanity’s sustainable return to the Moon and pave the way for human exploration of Mars, NASA has selected 41 innovative technology proposals from 37 American companies. The selected initiatives feature brilliant engineering solutions designed to tackle the harshest extraterrestrial environments. For instance, Lockheed Martin is developing a modular, compact energy system designed to beam wireless power via fiber lasers into the Moon’s permanently shadowed regions, ensuring future habitats survive the freezing lunar night. Meanwhile, Moonprint Solutions is designing flexible, highly durable protective covers tailored to shield intricate robotic joints and rovers from abrasive lunar regolith. From non-destructive orbital adhesive attachments that extend satellite lifespans to revolutionary space infrastructure, these joint efforts are laying the vital groundwork for a booming, self-sustaining space economy.
